Lavaux Saint-Jacques, alternatively spelled Lavaut, is one of the most celebrated sites in Gevrey. The vineyard lies in the Combe de Lavaux, a small valley leading westward out of Gevrey into the Hautes-Côtes, so the temperature is slightly cooler than the rest of the village. The Burguet brothers acquired a tiny sliver at the base of the vineyard around 2010, and produce (at most) a handful of barrels each year of this elegant, delightful, and enchanting wine.
