Grenache

Serge Scherrer produces two wines with minimal added sulfur from some of his oldest vines. These cuvées are Serge's way of making wines that are clearly against the establishment of what is expected from the region. Both wines have revolutionary-leaning names: L'Affranchi (the Unbound) and L'Insoumis (the Rebel). L'Affranchi is produced from 100% Grenache and typically vinified and bottled with no added SO2. As this wine is "freed" from sulfur, Serge named it L'Affranchi. The label was created by Serge's friend and tattoo artist Yann Dumur. To stay true to the name of the wine, Serge gave the artist complete freedom to make the label however he saw fit.
