Created in 1964, the domaine works by using traditional champagne winemaking process. The maison Daniel Petit et Fils was founded in the early 1960s by Richard Petit’s grandparents, but the story begins one generation earlier. Richard’s great grandfather was the vineyard manager for Perrier Jouet, and lived in the elegant cellars in the center of Avize. He also owned a few hectares of grand cru vineyards of his own. When Perrier Jouet was sold to Mumm in 1959, he was able to purchase the home where he lived, which included the production room, storage, and over 3 km of caves below the house.
Today the domaine owns just over 4 hectares of grand cru chardonnay vines in Avize, Oiry, Chouilly, Oger, and Cramant. In the vineyard, they do not use herbicides, and all the treatments that ...
