The Cuvée du Chaos comes from the oldest vines in Grand Pré (60-100+ years old). Yann considers this his cuvée d'exception and uses these vines to experiment with biodynamic farming, as well as other ways to advance his vineyard management. The wine itself is one of the most beautiful expressions of Gamay in the universe, a wine that searches for purity over strength and elegance over richness. It's a rare example of a tete de cuvée that is lighter in body, though richer in complexity. Like everything at the domaine, this wine is naturally vinified without any added yeast or SO2.

Cold carbonic maceration for 20 to 22 days avoiding any manipulations. No added sulfites and exclusively indigenous yeast.

Elevage8 months; 50% in 600 liter demi-muids, 25% in 300 liter barrels, 25% in 225 liter barrels. Racked and bottled at the property without filtration or added sulfites and in harmony with the lunar cycle. Minimum 10 months bottle aging before release

Growing up in Fleurie, Yann Bertrand never thought he would become a winemaker. He briefly enrolled in commerce at a local university, then travelled around the French Alps for a few years. When applying for local jobs, he noted that he was the son of a vigneron and soon found himself working at wine bars and wine shops, surrounded by passionate wine geeks and artisan winemakers who often came to deliver wine themselves. Tasting wines in a new way, he began to ask himself some questions, and eventually decided that the metier of a winemaker would be interesting to him if he pursued it with the same passion as the role models he encountered.
